What is Leveling Up?
Hi, I’m Jimmy.
In 2017, I started a research, consulting, and investment firm called Alderbrook founded in New Orleans and currently based out of Nashville.
A few years ago, I began writing essays with the amazing team at Naavik. In them, I covered some of the lessons that I had learned advising & investing in companies as well as some of my predictions on where certain businesses and trends might be headed.
Since then, I’ve published more than 20 newsletters and narrowed my focus to topics at the intersection of music, technology, and investing.
Leveling Up is the home for this work and is all about learning in public. As a passionate gamer, I’ve spent too many hours (sorry to my wife Hannah!) grinding games like FIFA to progress through the ranking tiers. As an entrepreneur, I’ve had to restart many times working to grow my business. Eventually, things click and I get better.
Through writing, I aspire to “level up” my thinking on different topics. Hopefully, you are entertained and learn something along the way too!
